Registration Policy for Religious Education

1. REQUIREMENTS:

(A) Must be a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church. If not a member, you must get written permission from the church parish in which you are registered/domiciled and permission from the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church.

(B) Only parents or guardian can register a child.

(C) First graders will need a Baptismal Certificate.

(D) First Communion Candidates will also need a Baptismal Certificate if they did not attend first grade at Our Lady of Mercy.

(E) Confirmation Candidates will need Baptismal and First Communion Certificates if not already on file.

(F) All New Students will need a Baptismal Certificate and First Communion Certificate (if applicable).

(G) Fees are due the day the child is registered unless arrangements have been made with the pastor.

2. EARLY REGISTSRATION: Begins the first Monday in March and ends the
last Wednesday in March. We strongly encourage parents to
register during this period. This registration period will be
announced in the bulletin and the pulpit during the month of March.
In addition, a reminder note from the religious education office will
be sent home by the students.

3. SUMMER REGISTRATION: Begins the first Monday in July and ends
one week before the first catechism class of the session. This
registsration period will be announced in the bulletin and the pulpit.

4. LATE REGISTSRATION: Begins the Tuesday after the first day of
catechism and continues through the third week of catechism. After
the third week of catechism, only registrations for home schooling
will be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE: AS PER DIOCESAN POLICY, First Communion and Confirmation students MUST attend classes at Our Lady of Mercy for the purpose of sacramental preparation. This includes all public, private, parochial, and home schooled students who are members of Our Lady of Mercy Church parish. For this reason, home schooling is NOT allowed at those two levels. Therefore, First Communion and Confirmation registrations MUST be completed by the end of Late Registration or the child's First Communion/Confirmation will be postponed until the following year.
